Aftercare

HOW TO CARE FOR A NEW PIERCING

✦ Always wash your hands before touching your earrings. Try your best to limit touching your ears to only when you are cleaning.

✦ Clean your piercing with a normal saline or advanced aftercare solution 2 to 4 times a day for at least 30 days — front and back.

✦ Leave room in front and back of the earrings. If your piercing was done by needle you have a long healing post. Be sure to come back in one month to get your post resized.

✦ Disinfect anything that goes in, on, or around your ears once daily to decrease the risk of introducing bacteria to the site. This includes cellphones, headphones, ear-buds, eye-glasses, sunglasses, headbands, etc.

✦ Give your earrings a good rinse for about 30 seconds with warm water in the shower, especially after washing your hair. A warm wash cloth can be held to the area for extra comfort and healing benefits (especially helpful for friction bumps).

✦ Be mindful and try to avoid getting your earrings tangled or pulled by your hair, headphones, mask or glasses.

✦ To avoid your piercing from closing, wear earrings consistently for one year post piercing. Especially the hypoallergenic ones.

WHAT NOT TO DO WHILE HEALING FROM A NEEDLE PIERCING

✗ No touching, twisting or rotating your new needle piercing. Only twist new DEVICE piercings. Use clean hands to twist twice per day for 3–6 weeks.

✗ No sleeping on your new piercing. Use a piercing pillow if you are a side sleeper.

✗ No rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to clean your earrings.

✗ No soaps, creams, or ointments should be used on your healing piercing.

✗ No brass, nickel, or zinc containing earrings. Premium hypoallergenic earrings only!

✗ No heavy earrings or hoops until you’re fully healed. This can take up to 1 year for some.

✗ Swimming is only ok in chlorine pools or ocean water with the use of advanced aftercare spray. Otherwise no swimming for at least 30 days. Always avoid river and lake water for at least 30 days.
